The Montessori wooden shape sorter is a set consisting of 8 pieces of various shapes and colors and a base with holes into which the individual blocks must be fitted.

Children a dozen or so months old are very active and curious about the world around them. They want to touch everything, see everything, and they also like it when they are told about everyday objects or activities. Distinguishing and naming colors and shapes is an initial stage of a toddler's education, giving them a lot of joy and satisfaction. Additionally, our sorter is perfect training for little hands and a wonderful tool that supports the development of skills important for a child.

The sorting set is complemented by a brochure containing tips on how to play with the sorter to support skills important for the child, as well as background information for caregivers.

The shape sorter primarily supports: concentration, visual perception, eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, logical thinking, and speech and communication. Did you know that:

1. Concentration is the ability to focus attention on something specific. It can be an activity being performed, a specific object, or instructions given by a teacher. Concentration ensures proper child development and is essential at every stage of their education.
2. Visual perception allows a child to know and understand the world around them and is also essential in further education when learning to read, write, and count. While playing with several elements with different images, a child must focus their eyes on them and evaluate what they see, e.g., colors, shapes, similarities, and differences. This is an introduction to more advanced analysis, which is, among other things, the basis of logical thinking.
3. Eye-hand coordination enables the achievement of precision in movements. It is necessary in everyday activities – from independent eating, dressing, drawing, or writing to physical activity. Eye-hand coordination additionally requires training of the child's hands and fingers, i.e., fine motor skills.
4. Fine motor skills are the precise movements of the hands and fingers, such as squeezing, stroking, kneading, and grasping. They are essential in many areas of a child's life and in achieving independence (e.g., brushing teeth, buttoning buttons, eating, writing).
5. Logical thinking allows for the analysis of situations, drawing conclusions, and developing possible solutions based on gathered information. It is one of the skills that a child may find difficult to achieve. Why is it worth exercising logical thinking? Because it is essential at every stage of our lives.
6. Speech and effective communication are the basis of daily life in the family and are also indispensable in developing social competence. They allow a child to express their thoughts and feelings and to understand what others want to convey.
